Inn Crowd, We Love You!

Dear Inn Crowd,

We all love to belong to groups that make us feel valued and of use in a world that has so many needs. I am writing to thank you for being part of the Inn Crowd! Your generosity to Room in the Inn-Memphis makes it possible each year for individuals and families to be sheltered in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. I want you to know that your financial gifts directly impact the lives of the guests we serve every day.

Just before I sat down to write to you a guest who is staying in our Recuperative Care Center stopped me in the hallway and shared good news about employment. He was excited that this is the next step in his journey to permanent housing. With a little shake in his voice he said, “Room in the Inn and the people here are the first family I’ve had in a long, long time.” Your donations, large and small, make a place for this guest and hundreds like him, to find health and healing on our campus.

The world is indeed a place of many needs. I am inviting you to continue your support of Room in the Inn with your year end gift. You can donate online www.ritimemphis.org/give. Every dollar you give in the month of December will be matched up to $50,000 thanks to generous friends of RITI. The needs of our guests are many and met daily only because of the generosity of donors who give and then give more.

During this season of thankfulness and celebrations I see the faces of children and their parents who have a bed instead of a car to sleep in, regular meals instead of whatever they can find and loving tutors who encourage them to love school and learning instead of feeling shame for the hard times their family is going through as they stay in our Family Inn. Each night individuals and families find a welcome in our Congregational Winter Shelter. Through new relationships we see a change in the lives of both our guests and volunteers. It is literally a life-saving experience during the coldest months of the year.

The Inn Crowd does not have a membership card or require a certain gift to belong. The proof of membership is that feeling that you all have in your heart knowing that what you do and the resources you share is changing the lives of men, women and children.
