Hundreds of men, women, and children are experiencing homelessness in Memphis. There are not enough free, safe shelter beds to support this growing need.

Room in the Inn’s Congregational Nightly Shelter gives the community an opportunity to respond with hospitality and action.

Your support allows Room in the Inn to train and coordinate a growing network of diverse congregations that open their doors to provide food and shelter to people who are experiencing street level homelessness November-March and May-September each year.

Guests are safely indoors during the brutal months of winter and summer thanks to volunteers from these dedicated faith communities.

Night-to-night shelter options keep families constantly on the move. This instability makes school attendance, maintaining employment, and consistent childcare nearly impossible.

Since 2020, Room in the Inn has seen an overwhelming increase in families with children in need of shelter. The Family Inn provides a stable setting where families receive shelter, hospitality, and supportive services to move forward.

Your donations directly support the operation of the RITI Campus, a 24/7 shelter facility with skilled staff offering support around the clock.

Families experiencing homelessness live in the comfort and privacy of the Family Inn, a community environment on RITI’s campus, as they work toward permanent housing.

During their stay families receive meals and supportive care as they work on long term goals for their family. Educational and counseling programs for adults and children are available.

What happens to someone experiencing homelessness who is released from the hospital and needs a safe place to fully recover?

Living unsheltered requires constant movement from place-to-place. The Recuperative Care Center offers the stability needed for those recovering from illness or injury or undergoing treatments.

Thanks to you, unsheltered individuals who are medically fragile and in need of a safe place to recover from illness stay in private rooms with 3 meals a day. RITI staff coordinates care with medical providers and assists with the guests’ housing goals. Opportunities for occupational coaching and counseling as well as physical strengthening are part of the recovery process.

Successful transition to housing is strengthened by continued support for our guests. The Housing Stabilization Coordinator offers encouragement and guidance that begins on our campus and continues into their permanent situation.
