November is a special time at Room in the Inn. It’s the beginning of our Congregational Winter Shelter program, which started it all. This is a month focused on gratitude, and as we begin our 15th year sheltering those experiencing homelessness we reflect on the vast community that makes this life-saving shelter possible. There’s always room in the Inn Crowd, which includes:
Thousands of volunteers from dozens of faith communities throughout Shelby County as well as groups and individuals serving on our campus in the Recuperative Care Center and Family Inn. Your volunteer hours create spaces of holy hospitality where lives change – yours and theirs. THANK YOU!
Hundreds of donors who support our ongoing work with one-time and monthly gifts that allow us to continue to steadily grow and serve those experiencing homelessness in Memphis. Your donation supplies food, shelter, and sustainability for current and future guests. THANK YOU!
Twenty-seven staff members and 15 academic interns working together around the clock 365 days a year to provide life-saving shelter at no cost to our guests. You show up each day with a passion for the people you serve. We know this is more than a job. THANK YOU!
On the first night of our winter season we were already experiencing freezing temperatures.
Two congregations provided shelter to 28 guests that night, including 1 child. We need your help more than ever to provide safe shelter spaces of holy hospitality this winter. Our short documentary film gives an overview of this program and the difference that can be made by turning your EMPTY space into ENOUGH.
Your participation can save a life. It will also change your congregation as they live into their calling to love their neighbor on the most basic level of providing food, shelter, and hospitality.
