Inn Crowd Shines Light in Coldest Months

Season of #LIGHTLOVESHELTER Continues

Highlights from “INN SIGHT” – the RITI monthly newsletter

Navigating the “how” of providing life-saving winter shelter during a life-threatening pandemic has been a constant challenge, but the “why” has never been in question.

RITI host congregations and volunteers have found ways to provide hospitality and warmth in the coldest months of the year despite the constant challenges and changes of the past two years.

“At White Station, we feel the presence of Jesus profoundly when we eat and laugh and cry and pray with our special guests on Saturday nights. We are, after all, just walking each other home.” – Amber Turner, White Station Church of Christ

Even now, TWENTY congregations continue to open their doors for a small group of people to enter, feel welcome, have a meal together, and have a safe place to sleep.

With the help of the Inn Crowd, RITI provides shelter seven nights a week at a more limited capacity than our usual program.

Idlewild is a church that encourages us to recognize the freedom of God’s grace and calls us to model the life and ministry of Jesus when and where we can. It’s impossible not to be grateful for the opportunity to share a warm, safe space and a good meal and conversation. Over the years we have made deeper connections with individuals that are incredibly meaningful, but sometimes it’s just knowing a good night of sleep is just what a guest needed to face the next day with more optimism. ”  -Amanda Ray, Idlewild Presbyterian
