Our Finest Gifts We Bring

What Gifts Do YOU Bring?

Dear Friends,

“Our finest gifts we bring to lay before the King.” As you may know, these are lyrics from The Little Drummer Boy. As the story goes, he plays his drum as an offering as he has nothing else to give. But it was his finest gift! Our staff, volunteers, board and partners are offering their finest gifts in the form of Holy Hospitality everyday as we serve our guests who are unsheltered. Some are preparing meals, some are staying the night with guests and others offer the gift of presence and friendship.

This holiday season, please consider a one-time gift or multi-year pledge that will allow us to continue to serve those experiencing homelessness.

God is blessing our work as we continue to provide shelter and meals in partnership with 55 congregations in our community. As an answer to prayer this year, we are expanding our programming in a new facility to include recuperative care and an expanded family shelter. Funded through our partnership with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Shelby County and the City of Memphis, the Historic Collins Chapel Hospital building will house these new programs. With increased staff and ongoing operational costs, we need your support.

Just this week, a staff member shared about serving a guest after he had left the hospital with end stage renal disease. While working toward securing emergency shelter for him during this coronavirus crisis he told our staff member that he heard the Lord in her voice and knew he would be alright. Because of your continued support for our mission, lives are being changed!

Thank you so much for joining us in this work and please pray for us in this upcoming expansion. It is sincerely appreciated. “And she laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” We cannot change this ancient story but we can join together to provide room for all those seeking shelter today.

Wishing you joy and peace during the holidays,

Rhonda Davis, Board Chair

Lisa Anderson, Executive Director

We’re grateful for every gift you bring!
