Will you answer?
Room in the Inn – Memphis receives a lot of calls on a daily basis:
check-in calls from our churches and volunteers,
hopeful referral calls from other local agencies,
good-news calls,
bad-news calls,
calls with questions,
calls to ask for help,
calls to offer help.
Under all of these rings the call each member of the “Inn Crowd” has answered- the call to holy hospitality.
We believe as the church and as humans, we are called to love our neighbor. We welcome our guests and one another as part of a greater community. This is our ministry and our call. When we are honest with ourselves, we know that we could not continue in this work without this greater power and purpose, the call of God in our lives.
Room in the Inn – Memphis has been selected as this year’s local charity to be highlighted by Memphis Theological Seminary’s St. Patrick’s Day Run, to be held on Saturday, March 11.
Our Executive Director, Rev. Lisa Anderson, our Program & Outreach Director, Rev. Whitney Brown, and many of Room in the Inn – Memphis’ volunteers are alumni of Memphis Theological Seminary.
MTS, with its mission of “Scholarship, Piety, and Justice,” trains ministers not only to be faithful interpreters of Scripture and strong church leaders, but also prepares them for “Ministry for the Real World” – the everyday work of fulfilling our call amidst the brokenness of this world.
Any proceeds from the St. Patrick’s Day Run will be divided between the MTS Ministry For the Real World Campaign, which supports the important work of Memphis Theological Seminary and Room in the Inn – Memphis. Our staff will be on site March 11 to cheer on race participants, answer questions, hear your stories, and accept donations.
You can participate in the race by running, walking, or even from the comfort of your own home as a “spirit runner.” We hope to see you there and thank you for your constant support of Room in the Inn – Memphis.
The St. Patrick’s Day Run is over, but you can still give to Room in the Inn by donating below.
